The RADS 9-11/A2-237™ is a man-portable, auto-tuning combination HF-NVIS, U/VHF Amateur Radio EmComm Antenna System.
It is the only such system designed and built specifically for the rigors of emergency deployment under disaster field conditions and is designed to withstand sustained winds in excess of 100 MPH; on any terrain, in any weather or tactical condition.
It can be deployed by one or two persons in under 15 minutes without tools, recovered and re-deployed just as easily and quickly.
It is equipped with a specially modified SGC SG-237 Smartuner™ and combination SGC™ Smartlock™ system; allowing operations at up to 100W PEP on 2.5 through 60 MHz. In addition, it is equipped for U/VHF coverage from 120-180, 220-225 and 430-480 MHz at up to 200W, using a Niljon multi-polarized antenna element. In addition, it includes a separate HF wire antenna mounting-point with 2KW PEP balun; allowing its use with either field expediant or optional HF wire elements for 1.5 through 60 MHz.
Both provided antenna elements and mounting points come complete with 50 foot coaxial feed-lines; each equipped with soldered PL-259 male UHF connectors. Each feed-line for the two HF antenna mounting points are also equipped with captive adapters on their station-ends for UHF to Type-N and UHF to BNC coonectors. This allows their use with the vast majority of HF and combination HF- U/VHF transceivers. The coaxial feed-line provided for the single standard U/VHF element is equipped with captive adapters for UHF to Type N, UHF to BNC and UHF to SMA connectors; allowing operations using the majority of available U/VHF transceivers.
All system components come packaged in a mil-spec heavy-duty vinyl carry case with double YKK zippers that may be carried by the included carry handles, or worn on the back in the same manner as a backpack.
Each system comes complete with a specially designed telescopic fiberglass mast system with section locks and our exclusive adaptable mast foot assembly and a combination guy system, with adjustable guys and sandbag/tree and debris straps. This combination allows deployment on hard or soft surfaces, from ice, rock and concrete, to parks, meadows and backyards.
Fully deployed, the mast stands over 22 feet in height and requires a space of about 40 by 40 feet. It however, deployable in a much smaller space if tactical conditions require it.
