The RADS 9-11/A1® started our company and has been in continuous production for over eight years with nearly 1,000 units sold world-wide.   As of this date, it is still the only purpose-built man-portable combination HF-NVIS, U/VHF EmComm antenna system in the world!    Intended from the start to serve the needs of individual volunteer EmComm operators and organizations; the ever increasing costs of its quality components and the labor required to produce a system of this quality, has forced us to either discontinue production completely, or reduce the quality.   As reducing the quality of the components used would adversely effect its performance and reliability, and because of its great popularity with the EmComm community; we've instead decided to continue to offer this proven design in kit form. With only a few minor changes in the design required to allow the average amateur to build it from a kit and to reduce costs by elimenating some of the more expensive components that have little or nothing to do with its dependability; the RADS 9-11/A1 KIT® remains the same tough, dependable performer it has always been and at a greatly reduced price!   The new kit includes everything originally supplied in the production model, except for the very expensive, custom-built carry bag and specially modified Niljon® U/VHF element.    The new kit instead, includes a standard NMO antenna mount and the original U/VHF groundplane assembly; allowing the use of any user supplied NMO mountable single or mult-band mobile antenna to be used for U/VHF coverage of the system.    Those still desirous of the Niljon's® proven performance; can still purchase a standard Niljon® Super-M® mobile antenna, with included NMO adapter and use this as the U/VHF element.   The new RADS 9-11/A1 KIT® is still a manually tuned, man-portable, combination HF-NVIS and U/VHF Amateur Radio EmComm Antenna System; designed for rapid deployment under real world emergency field conditions, on hard or soft surfaces, WITHOUT TOOLS!   The new kit still includes the 75, 40 and 20 meter HF whip resonators with adjustable stainless-steel telescopic end whips.   The adjustable end-whips allow tuning of the system for minimal VSWR and operation on ALL Amateur HF bands from 3 to 30 MHz AND the 6 meter VHF band, at up to 250 watts PEP.   In addition, most frequencies adjacent to the Amateur HF Bands; such as those of MARS and CAP are also tunable with this system!   Once the whips are adjusted for minimum VSWR and their lengths recorded on the tuning chart in the manual; the system may be easily tuned without tools or instruments for a good match anytime you change your frequency.   If your transceiver is equipped with a tuner, this will often allow a very wide change of frequency without a manual retune of the antenna system itself.  

The very expensive, modified and patented Niljon® multi-polarized U/VHF element previously supplied in the production model of the system is no longer available in the kit, but the same receive frequency coverage of 25-1300 MHz and transmit coverage from 120-180, 200-225 and 430-480 MHz; at up to 200 watts, is still available by purchasing the optional Niljon® Super-M® mobile antenna and mounting this to the NMO mount atop the RADS 9-11/A1 Kit groundplane assembly!   This wide bandwidth antenna allows coverage of not only the three primary Amateur U/VHF bands, but most adjacent public safety, government and military bands as well!   It is BOTH horizontally and vertically polarized; with BOTH high and low angle lobes, to get your signal in and out of valleys and canyons, while also allowing long-range, to the horizon coverage on BOTH FM and SSB.   It's design affords great obstruction penetration, bandwidth and real gain; all while greatly reducing "picket-fencing" and "flutter" often associated with weak FM mobile signals.   Or, use your choice of any high-quality NMO mountable mobile U/VHF antenna you may already have.   The RADS 9-11/A1 KIT® is still everything you need to field a full- function, multi-band emergency communications antenna system under disaster conditions.   Both the HF and U/VHF element mounts still include separate, high-quality 50 ohm coaxial feed-lines and may be operated at the same time, without mutual interferrence.   Use a multi-band, multi-port duplexer (not supplied) and operate multiple U/VHF transceivers on different bands at the same time!   Download the new RADS 9-11A1 KIT® Assembly and Owner's Manual here.   Please keep in mind the new kit version of this system is still tough as nails and built using the same high-quality component parts as the original production version; except for the very expensive, specially modified version of the Niljon® U/VHF element and very heavy-duty, mil-spec vinyl carry bag.   If you can solder a few coax connectors, use standard hand tools and follow simple, illestrated instructions; you can put together this very well designed system in just a few evenings and still have the same tough, dependable EmComm antenna system as our now famous production model, at far less cost!   Order your kit with complete confidence and experience the same proven performance and reliability of the original RADS 9-11/A1® in a simple to build kit today!    Please allow 1 to 3 weeks for delivery, as we expect a very high demand for these new kits.   Due to U.S. Department of State regulations and the current world situation; these systems (even in kit form) are still considered to have military application and their export to some countries is RESTRICTED.
